Southpaw Introduction

For defense your right hand still guards against their left, and your left hand guards against their right. When working against an opposite fighter a basic strategy is to keep your lead foot to the outside of their lead foot. Also keep your lead hand higher and outside their lead hand. This will assist you in keeping power position. Note: they’re trying to do the same thing to you.

Basic Catches/Blocks for Opposite Opponent

Play with hand defense with a stationary catch-catch drill, then add movement, and finally transition from catch-catch to catch-block
